Steve has been a keen photographer for most of his life, and sees photography as another branch of his art. His painting and photography have a certain interaction, although these days he rarely uses photographs as part of his painting process. However, the way he would see through the lens in many ways matches how he might produce work, especially landscape paintings. Like in some of his paintings, there is often a dual sense of perspective involved in his photography. Looking both out across, and down. Much of his photography takes us into a greater intimacy with the landscape – not of the more popular picturesque nature, but more by way of seeing beauty in the ordinary.

Steve's Photography
In recent years he has also moved toward video. Through this medium he is able to combine visual art with his love of sound – often producing elaborate mixes of seemingly incompatible sound and music. In his approach to video we also occasionally find his sense of humour. But more often than not his work contains a deep sense of the profound – which may be perceived by some as darkly bizarre. His videos often take the form of a meditation – and require mindful attention, in order to appreciate them. His attention to detail contains the essence of a true artist, in that he is ever attempting to help his viewers look at the world through the eyes of innocence and wonderment.
